Peoria Celebrates the Arizona Centennial!

With the help of Peoria Unified School District’s Culinary Program an idea was brought to life, a way to help celebrate Arizona’s Centennial with a birthday treat. 1600 cupcakes were made and decorated in colors of Arizona’s state flag and setup to replicate the flag and be displayed at the Peoria’s Centennial Plaza municipal complex to dedicate the park and celebrate Arizona’s hundredth birthday. Under the direction of Barbara Saltzman and Betty Renyer, students from both Ironwood High School and Peoria High School, handed out the cupcakes throughout the park and lobby area after Mayor Bob Barrett blew out a “100” year candle. Congratulations on a job well done to all of the students and teachers who helped make this project such a rousing success.
