“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”~ Margaret Mead
If selected, it would be my honor to serve as President-Elect of ACTEAZ, it is my goal to contribute to the greatness of the organization and to serve you. ACTEAZ is already a national leader in advancing the CTE Delivery Model. If selected as President, I would hope to draw on my experience in the following areas to contribute to the leadership of the Association
Advocacy – Experience at local, state and national levels running political campaigns and advocating for Career and Technical Education. One of the core tenets of the Association, is to advocate on your behalf. It is my intent to lean on my past experience and by your most adherent voice.
Professional Development – As someone who came into the classroom years ago, with limited knowledge of classroom management and best practices, I value and wholeheartedly support robust professional development for members. My goal is to expand access and availability to professional development statewide.
Networking – In my current position as Career Coach, my job is to develop and curate relationships with community, business and industry partners. I will continue those efforts statewide to strengthen the support of your programs. In addition, my goal is to support and grow connections through Circle of Distinction members.
Member Support – Having experience in the nonprofit sector, postsecondary education, a classroom teacher and CTE program director, I have walked the same walk and been in the same shoes as many of you. I understand the most important responsibilities as President is to support, listen to and serve the members of the Association and it is my intent to do so.
Together, as a small group of thoughtful educators, we can go out and change the world. If selected, it would be a true honor to serve as President of ACTEAZ. Thank you for your support.
Treasurer Candidate

I have been on the receiving end of a lot of the good things ACTEAZ does for Career and Technical Education in Arizona. I had the pleasure of being the ACTEAZ Treasurer for the last two years and before that a member of the Fellows program. The knowledge, skills, and personal connections I’ve made have been invaluable. I would love to continue this journey as ACTEAZ Treasurer for one more term. The opportunity to continue giving back to the community that has given me so much would be my pleasure.
Member-At-Large Candidates

Thomas Bogart
Thomas Bogart’s Platform Statement
As a member of the CTE community for over a decade, I have seen the power of the Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona (ACTEAZ) at the local, state and national level. I have seen the association accomplish amazing feats for individual teachers and thousands of students. Every opportunity I have been afforded to observe and/or work with ACTEAZ, I am reminded of the impact the organization is capable of producing. I want to help enhance the impact of ACTEAZ at all levels. I believe in the vision of the ACTEAZ and the four critical functions it serves. None of these functions are as critical to the future of CTE in Arizona as the creation of a statewide network for the cultivation of creative ideas. I would like to serve CTE students, teachers and administrators while engaging this statewide network. I believe I could bring critical thinking and improve the association’s ability to collaborate across space. Arizona CTE has some of the greatest leaders in the nation, and I am excited to work with these individuals. There is, however, always a need to increase leadership capacity. I would like to offer the association and its members what leadership I can while serving as Member at Large.

I want to thank you for your consideration for the ACTE-AZ Member at Large position. My path in CTE started when I was in high school, being a program completer in Automotive Technology and Construction Technology. I had the privilege of being a CTSO chapter officer, competed in SkillsUSA at the state and national level, and ended up earning a scholarship to attend a postsecondary automotive training program. These opportunities that I experienced offered me the technical and leadership skills necessary to become an ASE Certified Automotive Technician at the age of 20. I have now been a CTE educator for thirteen years, ten years as an Automotive Instructor, and the last three as a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist. I have most recently served as the Affiliate President for the Arizona Technology and Industrial Education Association (ATIEA) for the last three years.
I can genuinely say that without having the opportunities in CTE that I had in high school, I would not be where I am today. I am lucky to have had numerous CTE leaders and advisors help mentor me in my journey, from being a student, a new CTE teacher right out of industry, and now as a CTE leader. These leaders who have impacted my life did so out of service and wanting to help grow the next generation of CTE teachers and leaders. Just like I was mentored from an early age, I want to offer my knowledge and experience to help mentor and promote a successful transition of all CTE teachers from industry to the classroom across the state by being the next ACTE-AZ Member At Large. I will continue to support the mission and vision of ACTE-AZ by serving others before self, just like my mentors have done for me.
