CTE Administrator of the Year

James Grieshaber
Dysart Unified School District

The ACTEAZ Career Technical Administrator of the Year is James Grieshaber from Dysart Unified School District. Jim has been instrumental in growing the understanding of CTE with district leadership. He continuously meets with site administrators to communicate opportunities for growth with programs and provides feedback on student and program performance data. Jim has worked to implement programs and supporting CTE teachers through professional development, networking opportunities, and ensuring CTE programs have the equipment and resources.

Jim is constantly evaluating programs, as well as community needs by attending Think Tanks, city council and workforce meetings, community business events and networking working with industry partners. His involvement creates partnerships with local businesses through internship opportunities and advocacy and the annual CTE fair. He is a staunch supporter of career exploration at the junior high grade levels.

CTE funding pays for the career and college exploration platform. He made a commitment to his school sites to bring continuity to career exploration and this endeavor has been the most consistency our students and parents have experienced in a platform in the past 12 years.

Jim epitomizes CTE. Under his leadership, the district has showcased CTE in our community through our CTE Expo and community events. This event is open to business and families so that our partnerships and enrollment can grow. Jim’s work life is all about doing what is best for students and when you speak with him about CTE you can feel and understand that he is passionate about his programs and their success.

Jim is great with communicating with teachers on the importance of growing programs, how it impacts funding and ultimately how it impacts the success of the students. He is always willing to support anyone if they have interest in learning more about CTE by giving the opportunity to attend CTE functions. Jim really listens to stakeholder feedback and understands that it takes a team to make things happen. He steers the ship, and takes charge, but understands the value in his teammates and their advocacy. Two results were Nursing and Ed Professions.

Jim has served as the ACOVA President for the three-year cycle. ACOVA provides mentorship to other CTE Directors around the state.

He is a supporter of the ACTEAZ Fellowship Program and had numerous Dysart fellows go through the program. Fellows attend Region V, ACTE National and National Policy Seminar. By supporting ACTEAZ Fellows in their attendance and going himself, he definitely leads by example. Thank you, Jim, for serving as a statewide role model!
