ACTEAZ Distinguished Service Award


Maya Milhon
West-MEC

This year’s award recipient for the ACTEAZ Distinguished Service Award is Maya Milhon. Maya graduated from the ACTEAZ Fellows Program in 2020 and currently is the Fellows Program Coordinator. She dedicates time and effort to ensure communication and collaboration among Fellows and recruitment of new Fellows for to model leadership and advocacy. Maya also assisted with leading the Mid-Winter Conference Auction with the Fellows to raise $ 9,000 in scholarships in support of CTE students.

Maya is the Recruitment and Enrollment Systems Manager at West-MEC, where her engaging presentations reach thousands of students educating the community about the benefits of CTE. She leads in large events like Luke Days and Buckeye Air Fair (outreach to military families), charter and homeschool conferences, SciTech Festival, or foster children events to ensure CTE is visible to a variety of populations. Maya was also recently featured on a national podcast.

Maya “grew up” through CTE, developed early leadership skills in FAA, and majored in Agriculture Studies at the University of Arizona. At her core, she is CTE and fundamentally believes CTE is key to a person’s future success in life and career. These attributes make her an effective Fellows Coordinator leader and recruiter of other CTE leaders and advocates. Maya presents regularly at conferences, and received accolades for her presentations at ACTE Summer Conference, Region V, and ACTE Vision.
