President’s Letter – Fall 2017
Submitted by Stephen Weltsch

Dear ACTEAZ Members,

I hope the summer provided you with an opportunity to connect with family, friends and the quiet time to renew! The overflowing bins of school supplies at your local grocery store remind us that the start of school is near, and so much opportunity lies ahead!

Each of you will make meaningful differences in the lives of learners this year; not only will you provide young people with career-ready technical skills, but you will send graduates to post-secondary learning with a purpose. What a legacy and what a responsibility! Please know that your professional association – ACTEAZ – stands ready to support you in this critical work.

ACTEAZ is committed to assisting you with professional learning opportunities. Additionally, we are also devoted to sharing your stories and advocating for Career and Technical Education with elected officials. Our collective goals for the year include:

  • To support CTE teachers for the purpose of instructional excellence and student learning through the Premier Series Program and conference sessions
  • To nurture purposeful professional and personal growth through mentorship with the Share YOU Campaign, Fellows Program and Affiliates
  • To build systemic support for CTE through focused statewide advocacy and ambassadorship with the resources available at https://acteaz.org/cte-leads/

It is an exciting time for Career and Technical Education. There is much data to support that through your work – CTE increases student engagement, promotes student achievement and strengthens student transition to post-secondary learning. Thank you for your passionate commitment and unyielding work. Our schools and communities are better because of your good efforts.

ACTEAZ looks forward to serving you during the 2017-18 school year.  Please feel free to call upon us if we can assist you in any way.

Sincerely yours,
Stephen Weltsch
2017 – 2018 ACTEAZ President
