Submitted by Dennis Fiscus

The Annual DECAlympics Leadership Camp is just around the corner! With over 265 Arizona DECA students, advisors and alumni from 31 different high schools already registered, this year’s DECAlympics Leadership Camp will once again serve as the premier leadership opportunity for emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Held at Camp Shadow Pines in Heber, AZ October 1-2, 2011, the annual camp is an opportunity for DECA Chapter Officers to develop their leadership skills and participate in networking opportunities; as they compete in teams against one another in a variety of different fun and interactive leadership games and activities.

This year’s camp will feature two days of different leadership and team-building activities. The first day will focus on physical challenges that will force students out of their comfort zones and challenge their abilities to trust their teammates and conquer their own fears. The second day will include mental challenges that will force students to analyze a variety of solutions and outcomes to different team and individuals challenges. Throughout both days, all of the student-led teams will be competing for the opportunity and honor of being awarded either a gold, silver or bronze medal at the closing DECAlympics Awards Ceremony.

Arizona DECA develops emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management and is currently operated in over 115 different high schools and colleges in Arizona with a membership of over 6500 students, teachers and business professionals. Arizona DECA is housed and funded in-part by the Career and Technical Education Division in the Arizona Department of Education, John Huppenthal – State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
