Professional Knowledge Assessment Prep Course (PK Test Prep)

Prerequisites: It is strongly recommended that you complete the following courses prior to enrollment:
– Instructional Best Practices
– Grading & Assessment
– Lesson Plan Writing
– Classroom Management or Foundations of Classroom Management
– Rubrics
– Serving Exceptional Students in CTE
Recommended Timing: This course should be taken in your third year of teaching, approximately six months prior to your deficiency deadline
Intended Audience: This class is designed specifically for CTE Teachers who are required to take the Arizona Assessment of Professional Knowledge: Secondary (052)
Enrollment Requirement: Instructor approval is required before enrollment. Interested participants must complete an enrollment form to ensure recommended prerequisites have been met.
Course Format: Asynchronous online course
Session Dates: October 19 – September 30, 2026
Participants are required to attend a Virtual Kick-Off Meeting on Monday, October 19, from 4-4:30 pm

This asynchronous online class provides an overview of the standard material covered on the NES (formerly AEPA) Professional Knowledge Assessment (Secondary). Participants will engage in activities addressing student development and learning, assessment, instruction, the learning environment, and the professional environment. The course also introduces participants to the format and logistics of the test, enabling them to prepare effectively while allowing flexibility to complete the coursework at their own pace, within the six-week period.

Upon successful completion of the course, which includes submission of homework, participants will receive an ADE certificate for 15 professional development clock hours, which equates to one (1) semester hour of coursework.

Note: We are not affiliated with Pearson or the National Evaluation Series (NES). This course is intended as a supplemental preparation resource and should not be considered the sole source of content for the exam.
